These candies are far too personal, and not something I think we're meant to experience. It's a dirty trick to play on us. [He looks a little irritated, especially since he doesn't know who to blame for it. But then his expression softens to guilt.] I wish I hadn't.... I should have checked the network first.

And I apologize for what you might see or hear to anyone who eats any that might relate to me.

[ooc: You can assume you ate one of Ken's here, or if those are too upsetting? A generic Digimon one with Ken in the digital world with Wormmon is fine, too - labeled DIGIMON. Sorry I didn't think of it earlier.]

[She almost asks how again, but isntead she runs her hand through her hair.]

I can't imagine how anything like that could happen...I need to see this thing!

[His own territory when he was a little jittery about allowing anyone to look at such a precious thing? Safe grounds. Smart move, Rita. He eases a little.]

All right. There is some sand in here, though.

[Which means, by his standard it's messy, but it's hard to keep the sand out. Things keep TURNING on him. And he's a little embarrassed by it.]

[Somewhere that wasn't public definitely seemed like the best option. Beyond that...Rita wasn't actually thinking further.]

Ken, I live on the beach. There's sand everywhere there.

[That, and she's pretty messy, so it's not about to bother her!]

[That actually gets a laugh out of him.]

I know, but I'm not accustomed to things inside turning to sand. But if you're fine with that, than please, come over.

[Insert address and apartment number here, in case that wasn't done yet.]

I'll make some tea for us.

[She cracks a slight smile in return.]

Yep. I can handle some sand, no problem.

[And address noted! She gets going from wherever she's been hanging around.]

Sure, if you want to. I'm already out in the city, so I'll be there soon.

Would you prefer something else?

Not really. You can make whatever you want.

[She's nonchalant about it, thinking more about his digivice than drinks.

And pretty soon she's giving a couple knocks on his door.]

[Well, he should've known that.... He just wanted to be a proper host if she was coming over. Whoops.

[Ken answers the door and leaves it open for her to enter with a light nod of his head.]

Come in.

[Aw, Ken. Manners and courtesy tend to be lost on Rita, alas.

But she has gotten to the point where instead of just demanding to see the device first, she offers him a slight smile and a greeting as she comes in.]

Hey. Thanks.

So, you have the device?

[Greeting over, now business!]

[Lost on someone or not, Ken's manners remain in tact.]

You're welcome.

[He can't help but laugh lightly, just once, when she asks to see the device. Niceties are clearly pointless here.]

Of course. Just, please, promise once more you won't take it apart or do anything you can't undo yet? [Yeah. It's THAT important to him.]

[It's definitely obvious how important it is. As much as she'd really like to take it apart and study each piece, she'll stick to her promise. He gets a firm nod.]

I promise, okay? I'll just look at it.

[Maybe because he's talked to her before, and she's given him a cat, but whatever the reason, Ken finally trusts that, and hands over the device.]

Thank you. I appreciate that.

Well, it's important to you, right?

[She definitely gets that. She takes the device--not overly delicate, but not being rough--and turns it over in her hands, studying the features.]

So you said you used it in front of computers.

Yes, it is.

[He nods his head, but frowns for a second.] Yes, that's how it used to work. But ever since I got here it doesn't seem to react at all.

[She continues to inspect it, taking a glance at the dead screen as she thinks out loud.] I haven't exactly studied the networks in this place, but...Maybe it was only programmed to connect to the one in your world. If it can really do that, you'd have to alter the device or the network.

I haven't looked into the networks either. Before, I might have been able to do something about it. Now I don't think so. Technology isn't as easy for me as it used to be.

But...maybe we SHOULD look into them?

As it used to be? Is the stuff here more advanced?

[She's a little curious, at least. However, she's more focused on the idea of exploring the networks in the City.]

So, investigating the networks...Yeah, we could try that. There's plenty of computers, and-

Hey, you could try the network that we use to communicate on these devices, couldn't you?

[She indicates her communicator.]

No.... [He doesn't expand further on that, noticing the conversation tide is turning. Ken jumps on that, instead.]

We can try. I used to get messages from the others on my Digivice. However, when I tried to e-mail them, after I arrived, it wouldn't go through.

I didn't try anything else with it, thinking it wouldn't work. Just kept trying to open a gateway through the computers.

[She notes the answer but is too interested in the other aspect of their conversation to pursue it.]

Okay. So trying the communicators is still an option, since they're obviously connected through a network. That'll still depend on whether your device is compatible with it...

And do you know enough about computers to tell if the ones here are different from the ones in your world?

I know more about software and programming than hardware, but from a superficial view they look the same. And from bits I've looked on them, they seem the same inside as well, if not a bit more advanced. There's some programs used I've never heard of, or updated to a version not yet available in my world.

[ooc: And now I have a question for the mods, though I would suspect his D3 wouldn't work that way.]

Well, the software and programming is the data--that's what your device connects with, right? So, do you think it'd work if the software was downgraded a little?

[ooc: Sadly, but it would've been neat! I do wonder if the D3 could allow Ken to travel to and from the Shadow City, though.]

I don't think the level of the software should affect it. Others before me were able to travel on earlier versions.

[ooc: You're brilliant! I totally forgot about Shadow City. I should look up what info we have on it, then ask the mods a host of questions. Because THAT would be kind of interesting.]
