Hello. [And then, the pause. The slight blush to her cheeks, that she's going to ignore and so should you.]

Right, I was going to ask - for something. [Another pause, enough to worry her lips between her teeth for a moment, then nod to herself and straighten up.]

This 'modern concept' [Air quotes] called 'dating' [Air quotes] how does it go? How is it any different from - from courtship, or wooing? And on that note, are things so different in this world? I am...beginning to think I come from what would be considered a very outdated place. There's so many things that boggle the mind here, but today I'm just going to ask about this one.

[She finds out rather surprisingly that she doesn't like idleness, can't suffer it even in this situation, when just kissing isn't enough. Just kissing turns then into kissing and tracing his arms with her hands, then into bending her knees, lowering them, curling her toes, relaxing them; she's restless. She wants.]

[A slight laugh escapes his mouth as he kisses her.]

Impatient?

Anticipating. [She shushes him with another kiss, don't dare mock her, and moves her hands under his arms to wrap them around his back.]

[This is a lot sillier then he remembers things being since he was very young. At some point sex became something serious to him, but this feels like being a teenager again, fumbling and giggling in the back seat of a car, drunk on adrenaline. Since his hand is already on her thigh he gives it another squeeze before moving upwards, rucking up the hem of her skirt and he tests how far he can go.]

[Her eyebrows raise at that, but her expression remains amused - as if she's testing how far she'll consider letting him, actually - and apparently she's decided this is fine. This is a lot different then what the book implied it would be like, but - again - she's beginning to think the book was full of hogswash.

Somewhere around the upper-half of her thigh, he brushes against a patch of skin that has her eyelids fluttering closed and her breath catching.]

[A slow smile creeps onto his face. The intellegent part of his brain is telling him that maybe this should be the part where he backs off and lets her take a break. But the blood isn't exactly flowing in that direction at the moment. His fingers trail a little higher, brushing oh so gently just outside the V of her legs.]

[Ohgods, she thinks, and sucks in air through her teeth, her heart skipping a beat, breath stuttering. She keeps still for a moment, testing how she feels about the touch, then makes the most imperceptible movement with her hips, a small twitch.] Tickles...I think...

Good tickle or bad tickle?

[Finger tracing over again, just a ghost of a movement.]

[Her muscles twitch again, almost jumpy.] Good tickle. [Nevermind that she can't explain how a tickle can be anything but uncomfortable or unwanted. This one is - just that. Good.]

Remember what I said about telling me if you need me to stop.

[He presses another kiss to her lips as his fingers trail up and under the hem of her underwear.]

Ohdear - [And yet not a word that begins with 's'. Her head drops back onto the bed in surprise, and she trembles worse than a leaf in the wind for a moment. The longest moment.] Mmh, yes I remember...

[He soothes her with soft kisses, trying to calm her down as much as he can before he goes any further. She's wearing a set of plain cotton knickers that are fussy and sensible and so very Sophie that is bring another smile to his face as he slowly work them down with his hand. He's starting to get hard inside his trousers and he shifts uncomfortable where he is, trying to find some relief. For now he's more interested in the noises he can make come out of her as he brings his fingers down the centre between her legs, barely touching for now.]

[Ah. She's trying to determine when exactly she lost her moral upstanding, letting him take off her underwear so easily, but the attempt fails short. Insignificant, either way - she's...curious. What's more, she realises now that the heat she kept feeling pooling in her belly whenever they kissed before was very much due to this. But mostly, she is curious. Even as his fingers touch, as it makes her hips twitch up and her thighs attempt to clamp around his hand, she feels surprisingly slippery, or she reckons she must be for him to slide his fingers so easily against her. And this - this is the exact moment the sensibilities come back with a vengeance and have her blushing beet red and biting her bottom lip.]

Shhhh, Sophie. It's alright, I'll stop.

[He has both hands on her face now, kissing with with soft little fluttery pecks of his lips.]

Jesus, cariad, you feel like you're going to shake apart.

N-no, it's just...[Talking and kissing, not as easy as it looks, but she kisses back to reassure, and doesn't quite stop shaking either way. Although she does breathe in and try to focus on words for when she breaks the kiss to speak.] It feels good. I wasn't expecting...well, everything, really. It's like putting seven-league boots for the first time.

[Except it isn't. Like that time he flew them back home. Except it isn't.]

We should go more slowly.

[Who knew he'd ever here those words come out of his mouth...]

It's a lot to take in, I know.

[Victorian prudery doesn't disappear over night, even for someone as strong willed as Sophie Hatter.]

But- [There's a little soft whine rushing out of her mouth, and she bites on her lips to hold it in, because he's right. Slowly is good, and it is a lot to adjust to. She nods.] Slowly, all right...but not - I still want...

[A pause as she tries to grasp for what.] I'm not sure what.

We'll experiment, then. I don't mean to sound conceited but it is something I am rather good at.

You didn't sound conceited at all. [A small pause follows, enough for her to squirm a little, her underwear slipping a little down her legs, and to pull a face.]

You sound smug, that's the word for it. Know-it-all. [Jokes aside, though - as if this is the moment for jokes! As if it isn't just the perfect moment for them - she adds, in a smaller voice.] Experimenting sounds good.

Just keep letting me know what's working for you.

[For now he goes back to kissing her neck, hand on the outside of her thigh to hold her steady as he trails down towards to her chest.]

This is...definitely - [Proof being how she tilts her head to give him more space, how her hands return to touching him, sliding up his arms, his shoulders.]

[It takes him a while to find the zipper on her dress. Honestly, who puts in under the arm? But at least there are fewer layers to get through than he's become used to. He eased it down very slowly, giving her time to object if she needs to.]

[Considering the state of undress going on beneath her dress, far be it for her to be embarrassed when he pulls it off her shoulders. Actually, her skin feels too hot for her to be in it, to be in any clothes at all, and she's not used to this heat; as she's not used to the idea of this Sophie who will do as she well pleases, even if that means living with a man while she is unwed, and giving him her heart, and taking off her clothes so liberally. But - if she didn't know with absolute certainty that Howl loves her, she would not have done this. Would not have even kissed him.

So, because she knows, she helps him take it off.]
